In June, my family and I took a vacation to Yellowstone National Park with the in laws. It was the first time the kids and I had visited Yellowstone. We went for about a week and only saw a fraction of the park. We are already planning to go back in the future so we can see more of the park.
I couldn’t believe how beautiful this place is. I’ve seen pictures but nothing is better than being there and experiencing the beauty of it in person. I took over 500 pictures, most of them are of the different geographical areas of the park we visited. Covering over 2.2 million acres, it’s no surprise the land shifts from meadows to hills and then mountains. The kids loved seeing Old Faithful and the thermal pools. And my son was excited that below our feet was a dormant super volcano.
We were able to see some wildlife including bison, elk, ducks, a coyote, and this very photogenic raven. I was able to get a few shots of it as it stood there. My husband and I were hoping to see a bear and a moose since we have never seen one of these in the wild. Unfortunately, we were unable to catch a glimpse of either.
The places we did see included Old Faithful, Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone Lake, Gibbon Falls. Grand Prismatic Spring, and Firehole Falls to name a few. We also visited the Grand Teton National Park though on that day it was cloudy so there was an overcast on the mountains. I still got some beautiful shots with the clouds and the Tetons. We were exhausted by the end of the week, but it was worth it to be able to experience this wonderful place. I highly recommend it on everyone’s bucket list.
