Word for 2023

“But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.”

-Ephesians 4:7 ESV

Once again it’s time to pick a word to focus on for the year. I discovered this concept from a fellow author a few years ago. I love the idea of choosing just one word to focus on instead of a list of things that usually get broken or forgotten by March. These past few weeks, I’ve gone back and forth about which word I would choose. After much reflection, that word is GRACE.

I don’t like to make mistakes or fail at things. When I do, it feels like a huge crushing blow to my self-esteem. Even when I am reminded that no one is perfect, and it is human to make mistakes.

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

-2 Corinthians 12:9

So, in 2023, I want to try to give myself and others grace. To forgive as God forgave us through Christ. Do you choose a word for the year?
